1)
Feel encouraged about the possibility of launching
your
marriage and family relationships to the next level.
2) Learn to see more deeply and
honestly into
the
real issues at home and with spouse.
3) Come to understand the importance of treating
your marriage and family relationships with the same respect,
attention to organization, consistency and dignity than you do your

4) See your marriage and family relationships as fun and exhilarating pathways to the spiritual treasures you
seek.
The old axiom "an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure"
is amazingly applicable to marriage and family relationships.
With just a little bit of time put toward the
relationships that mean the most to us, you can do so much to

2) I focus on healing the real wounds, vs. blaming
you for my disappointments, heartache, frustration or pain.
3) I show up as my real and best self rather than testing your
love.
4) I unconditionally love and cherish you for who you are (hidden
and seen)-- grateful for what you show me— excited and encouraging for
things to come.
5) I will turn the specific keys of healing you have given
me.
6) I create dignity, respect and love by honoring the
rules of communication we have agreed on.
7) I honor the resources we have agreed on and am
diligent, steady and true in holding to them i.e. weekly express

A Message to potential participants from John Canaan:
A lot of people have asked me "Why on earth would I go to a marriage
retreat given by a divorced person?" I have to say, If it was
me, I probably wouldn't. It just doesn't make any sense -- at
least logically. But logic aside, I promise you that something
very special
will happen in your life in connection with this
retreat, not because of who I am, but because of who you are,
and what you really want. I know this, because I wanted it too. I was married to the most wonderful woman in the world, who I still
love and always will (we are close friends to
this day). Things didn't work out with us, partly, because I was
simply unwilling to see how close we were to the edge of the cliff.
You don't need to do that. Your pride isn't worth your marriage.
Pick a resource. If it's not this one,
pick another. I can email you all kinds of resources--
administered by happily married men and women.
But I will make another promise to you about this retreat.
People like Paul and Alma, after really messing up, came back at life
with a vengeance (in a good sort of way, as you know). I have
too. And I thank my Heavenly Father that He has taken the mess
I've given him and handed me back a miracle. Because that's
what, through His "tender mercy", He is able to make of anyone's life,
who is willing. This workshop is one of the miracles in my life.
I hope I can assist and encourage you in finding your
miracles-- the greatest and most precious of those being eternal love
with your spouse and your children.
